Definitions

Door entry system Typically consists of an audio or audio/video external intercom, solenoid or magnetic lock and internal telephone.
Access control system Typically proximity or swipe card reader which will allow access in or out of a restricted area. This system normally has a computerised or printed log to view the times and dates of personal accessing or leaving the secure area.
Interlock System Similar to an airlock this system is installed to prevent more than one door being opened at any one time.
Commercial automated gates Normally consisting of a heavy duty canter leaver suspended gate controlled by a high duty motorised system with keypad, intercom or tag entry and automatic vehicle detection on exit.
Domestic automated gates Normally consisting of a sliding or leafed gate controlled by either an underground or lever type motorised system with remote control and keypad/intercom entry and remote control for exit.
Proximity tag/card Electronic device which when placed close to a card or tag reader will allow authorised access
